TERMS OF USE

Welcome to Julie Hodge Web Design. By accessing and using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use.

Services

  • I provide website design and development services using WIX and Squarespace platforms

  • All project timelines and deliverables will be agreed upon in writing before work begins

  • Changes to project scope may affect timeline and pricing

Intellectual Property

  • All designs created remain Julie Hodge Web Design's intellectual property until final payment is received

  • After final payment, you receive rights to use the website design as intended

  • My portfolio may include screenshots or links to completed projects unless otherwise agreed

Payment Terms

  • A 50% deposit is required to begin work

  • Final payment is due before website launch

  • All prices are in Canadian dollars and will be charged 5% GST unless otherwise specified

Client Responsibilities

  • Providing necessary content (text, images, logos) in a timely manner

  • Reviewing and providing feedback within agreed timeframes

  • Maintaining their own platform subscriptions (WIX, Squarespace, domain names, payment processor integrations)

Revisions

  • Project includes the agreed upon rounds of revisions as agreed to in work contract

  • Additional revisions will be billed at my current hourly rate of $75 + GST per hour

  • Major changes to approved designs may incur additional charges

Privacy

  • Client information is kept confidential

  • Julie Hodge Web Design does not share or sell client information to third parties

Limitation of Liability

  • I will make every effort to ensure your website functions as intended

  • Julie Hodge Web Design is not liable for third-party platform issues (WIX, Squarespace, hosting services)

  • Maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for services

Website Access & Third-Party Services

  • Client is responsible for maintaining their own WIX/Squarespace subscription

  • Client must provide administrator access to their platform account during development

  • Domain registration and renewal are the client's responsibility

  • Client is responsible for any third-party costs (stock photos, fonts, plugins)

Content & Materials

  • Client must provide all content in digital format

  • Content must be delivered all at once, not piecemeal

  • Content must be finalized - no major rewrites after design begins

  • Client confirms they have rights to use all provided content

  • Client is responsible for content accuracy and proofreading

  • Materials provided after agreed deadline may delay project completion

  • Content must be provided in specified formats (.doc, .jpg, etc.)

Project Timeline & Communication

  • Projects must be completed within 90 days of start date

  • Projects inactive for 30 days may be considered abandoned

  • Two weeks notice required for project pause/hold

  • Response time: Client must respond to questions within 48 business hours

  • Missed meetings/consultations require 24 hours notice for rescheduling

  • Project delays caused by client response times may affect final delivery date

Design Process

  • Homepage design must be approved before inner pages begin

  • Design changes after approval require additional payment

  • Maximum of 3 concept proposals provided

  • Each page gets 2 rounds of minor revisions

  • Major revisions after approval billed at $85/hour

  • Navigation structure must be finalized before design begins

Technical Specifications

  • Browser support: Latest two versions of major browsers only

  • Mobile responsiveness: Optimized for devices 320px and up

  • No guarantee of exact replication across all devices/browsers

  • SEO setup limited to meta titles and descriptions

  • Security certificates (SSL) must be purchased by client

Post-Launch

  • 30-day bug fix period after launch

  • Training: 1 hour virtual training session included

  • Additional training billed at hourly rate

  • Minor text updates free for 14 days post-launch

  • Emergency support (24h response) available at premium rate

  • Maintenance plans must be purchased separately

Payment Structure

  • 50% deposit due before work begins

  • 25% due after homepage approval

  • Final 25% due before site launch

  • Rush fees: +25% for under 2 weeks delivery

  • Missed payments pause project progress

  • Late payments incur 1.5% monthly interest

Project Cancellation

  • Cancellation fee: 25% of remaining project cost

  • Work completed to date must be paid in full

  • No refunds on deposit after work begins

  • 14-day written notice required for cancellation

  • Incomplete projects may not be used
